November 29th

A view above of the north shore as water levels rise for the winter months. At present this area is holding 38 Wigeon and 75 Teal and a single Kingfisher . While at the dam end were 5 Goosanders two more Kingfishers and a flock of 15 Siskin.

November 24th

Around a dozen Cormorants feeding at the dam end and sunbathing on the boats.

Monday, 20 November 2017

November 20th

Six Goosander by the dam this morning 3 drakes , 3 Redheads . Fourteen Wigeon , 61 Teal and 176 Lapwing north end along with three Willow Tit. Also noted single Raven over five Nuthatch , Treecreeper , Buzzard and twelve Cormorant.

Rudyard Lake Staffordshire

Rudyard Lake lies on the edge of the North Staffordshire moors and covers some 168 acres and is over 2.5 miles long . It is owened by the Canal & river Trust built in 1799 as a canal feeder . The area is abundant in wildlife and due to Rudyard still feeding the canal systems the water levels do vary , and many wading and migrating birds can be seen on the mud flats at the northern end. Rudyard holds a very impressive list of bird species with 186 recorded to date.

Whooper Swan , Pink-footed Goose , Shelduck , Wigeon , Teal , Gadwall , Pintail , Shoveler , Pochard , Goldeneye , Goosander , Water Rail , Woodcock , Snipe , Willow Tit ,Brambling , Siskin ,Lesser Redpoll and occasionally we will get a rare Sea Duck.
